Here is What To Do When Confused And Have No Idea What To Do With Your Life

Confused and have no idea what to do with your life?

Just a few months ago, I was twice as confused as you.

But recently, I have gained some clarity on what I want to do with my life, and I feel I can lend some help to someone in this situation.

Perhaps what I will do with this article is share my journey.

I will xray the steps I took (and am still taking) to gain some level of clarity in my life. I believe this will help you find clues to your life path as well.

The Re-Invention Process (I Learned from John Obidi)

A few months ago, while browsing a Facebook group (head start Africa).

I was led to check out some of their pinned posts.

While going through it, I came across this particular webinar; ‘Self Re-invention with John Obidi’.

I was hooked.

Why Was I Hooked?

I guess I was, at the time searching for some kind of clarity in my life.

So, the topic ‘self-reinvention’, was good enough to catch my attention.

I delved into the webinar. Listened and took notes.

But it wasn’t just about note-taking. It was empowering.

That was exactly what happened to me after listening to that webinar on Facebook.

What Did I Discover From this Webinar That Gave Me Clarity?

Well, it kind of brought clarity to how we can navigate the muddy waters of life to find definitions for ourselves.

So, if you are asking the question; what do I do with my life? Or I have no idea what to do with my life. Here is exactly what to do.

Go on Exploration;

Go on exploration? Yes!

Go on exploration.

It means you are free to go ‘life-window-shopping’ until you find what works for you.

Try out things until you find what really interests you and you are ready to invest your time for a longer time.

So, what do explorers do?

They embark on a journey.

A search. But this time, you are searching for what works for you.

But before you begin your exploration, here are a few key questions to answer first.

What Do I Want?

If you have no idea what to do with your life, then take time to clarify your desires and interests.

Take a pen and write down a few things you want in your life.

What do you want? What is possible for me?

It can be financial freedom.

The ability to choose the people you want to be with, where to be, what to eat, and where to live because you can.

Sometimes, you may have to be specific. Write down what you want without fear.

Step 2. Believe That You Can Have Them.

One of life’s greatest harms is doubt. You can’t become what you can’t believe.

We create from a place of imagination.

Note that, I am not asking you to have faith.

I am telling you that that is how we were designed to operate.

We bring to life, that which we imagine, conceive, and believe.

I do not intend to over-emphasize this, but our “belief” is the ingredient that creates our reality.

Question 3, What Do I Need To Know?

This is not the time to hold on to your title. The process of re-invention is a lifelong process that people should keep under-going.

People who experience growth, are often the ones willing to ‘die’.

They are willing to drop current titles to experience the new.

Be always willing to drop “Engineer Ben’, to become “Life Coach Ben”. (Just an example).

People who have no fear of change have nothing to lose. It’s okay to drop an old title and experiment with a new one.

That is re-invention. You are trying to ‘check out what is possible.

You want to see if this, or this, is what your soul demands.

Again, don’t be afraid to ‘Die’.

Don’t be quick to bear a title you are not even sure would stick with your soul for a long time.

Make room for change and growth. Be open to what can be in the future-especially when you are still in the discovering phase of life.

I see lots of young entrepreneurs pick up a name like; “writer”, “Facebook Expert”, or “Software Engineer”.

Just because you write today, does not mean you can’t become a Programmer or psychologist tomorrow.

After I learned this re-invention thing, I stopped describing myself with a title such as “writer”, “Blogger”, or “Facebook Expert”. I am not those titles. At least for now.

This is because, well, I feel like I am still in the re-invention process.

I Have No Idea What To Do With My Life- Case Study of Re-Invention

So, I came across this podcast on Youtube (The Diary of a CEO).

The episode I watched that demonstrated this idea of re-invention was the interview with a former Microsoft engineer and software developer turned happiness expert.

He became happier and began to make more impact on others as a happiness coach.

The lesson?

Do not be afraid to change course. Try out things until you find what works for you.

In Conclusion

Don’t feel embarrassed if you have no idea what to do with your life. All you have to do is be willing to try new things.

Understand that you are the force that can bring about the transformation you seek.
