Say you have a few suitors or ladies in mind. You desperately want a guide or tips to help you know how to choose the right man or woman to marry.
In this post, I will be sharing the simple steps I would take if I were to choose the right partner to marry all over again.
1 . How To Choose The Right Partner To Marry: I Would Look out for Someone Who ‘Loves’ Himself
The first step on how to choose the right partner to marry is to look out for someone who loves himself.
This sounds strange, right?
The reason I would look out for this quality when choosing who to marry is that I completely love myself enough.
What does it mean to love oneself?
When considering How to Choose The Right Partner for marriage we must recognize the fact that a lot of people unconsciously do not like themselves.
This is because they have not cultivated the good qualities they appreciate, admire and see in others.
For example, we all admire people who are kind, patient, forgiving, persistent, and consistent.
People who show up for us in times of need. People who are early for any appointments, truthful, genuinely love their work, and always give their best in whatever they do.
And anyone with these qualities has great love, confidence, and respect for themselves.
We Often Fall Short of These Qualities.
We are usually impatient, quick to get angry, slow to forgive, always late for appointments,s and have a poor commitment to our life and work.
With these kinds of habits and behaviors, we hold ourselves in contempt, looking for someone to ‘complete’ us or fill the vacuums we have created by not developing these qualities. We truly do not love ourselves.
So, the first step to choosing the right partner to marry is to be the right partner, then look out for someone who possesses the same qualities I have consciously worked on.
When you have these qualities, you feel complete and feel enough as an individual. And when you feel complete, you can share love and a happy relationship with your partner.
But How Do I Know He Possesses These Qualities?
That is why we date. Your dating period is a time to critically watch out for red flags. Whenever someone exhibits a character flaw against your value or quality, you should take it as a red flag.
if you seriously love yourself you wouldn’t ignore the red flag.
So, this is how to choose the right partner for marriage; Begin the journey of becoming a better you, then find someone who has undergone or is on that same journey.
2. How To Choose The Right Man to Marry: Consider Spiritual/Belief Compatibility
The next step factor to determine to help me choose the right partner to marry would be their belief or spirituality.
I wouldn’t want to marry someone with a different belief system in terms of spirituality.
This is non-negotiable for me or anyone else for that matter. Being of the same faith and spiritual belief systems helps you solve a lot of problems from the ground.
If you sense or feel that your to-be partner is not ‘spiritually matured’ enough, that’s already a clue or red flag you cannot ignore.
How To Choose The Right Partner To Marry Conclusion
These are the only two factors I would consider if I am to begin the journey over again in choosing the right partner to marry.
First I must feel complete and understand that nobody has the permission to love me better than I love myself. So, I am not looking out for love or who would love me more than myself. I already do.
Hence I am looking for someone who feels complete in himself. And the easiest way to figure out such a person is by me becoming that person first. Once I have the qualities I admire in others, then it’s easy to identify these qualities in others.
Secondly, I wouldn’t compromise my faith or beliefs, especially as regards spirituality.
